Blood on The Cross
Blood On The Cross
Blood on the cross is an image mainly born from rainy days here in the UK. I usually like to get out
to do most of my Photography, but unfortunately I hate getting wet.!!
The monks outfit is a costume I purchased a long time ago for exactly this kind of image, but I never got round to using it.
The rain was pouring down, I was up early so I decided to make some images indoors.
Although I do sometimes photograph still life images, it is not my favourite genre.
So I dug out the Monks outfit and set to work creating an image.
The background is a canvas multi coloured hand painted thing I bought about 12 years ago from a seller at Focus on Imaging .
The background is lit with a red gelled Nikon SB910.
The overall lighting was supplied by an Elinchrom Ranger Quadra gelled with a 1/4 CTO.
A second Quadra head with a snoot attached was used to light up the hands, cross and blood.
The blood was made in kitchen with some food colouring, treacle and corn starch.
A dark vignette was added in post to create more drama and place the emphasis on the subject and this
is the completed image.
